How to create an Apple Developer account
A step-by-step guide to enrolling in the Apple Developer Program
To submit an app to the App Store, you must be a member of the Apple Developer Program ($99/year). Apple requires this to list your app under your business name and give you full control over your listing.
Enrollment requires:
- An Apple ID with two-factor authentication enabled
- A D-U-N-S Number (for Organization enrollment)
- Legal entity status and legal binding authority
- A business website
The process has four main steps:
- Apple ID & Two-Factor Authentication
- D-U-N-S Number
- Developer Program Enrollment
- Access App Store Connect
1 — Apple ID & Two-Factor Authentication
You need an Apple ID with two-factor authentication enabled. Apple requires this for security when joining the Developer Program.
2 — D-U-N-S Number
Your organization must have a D-U-N-S Number to verify its legal identity with Apple. These nine-digit numbers are provided free by Dun & Bradstreet and serve as standard business identifiers.
- Already have one but don't know the number? Look it up at developer.apple.com/enroll/duns-lookup.
- Don't have one? Request a free D-U-N-S number at dnb.com. This can take approximately 5–7 business days.
3 — Developer Program Enrollment
1. Go to developer.apple.com/programs/enroll.
2. Click Start Your Enrollment.
3. Sign in with your Apple ID (or create one if you don't have one).
4. Select your entity type:
Individual / Sole Proprietor: Your app will be listed under your personal name on the App Store.
Organization: Your app will be listed under your company's legal name. Organizations must provide a D-U-N-S Number during enrollment.
5. Fill in your business information as requested.
6. Enter your D-U-N-S number when prompted.
7. Provide your billing information and complete the $99/year payment.
After completing payment, Apple will notify you within 24 hours once your account is activated.
4 — Access App Store Connect
After your account is activated, sign in to appstoreconnect.apple.com to manage your apps, submit builds, and monitor your App Store listing.
From App Store Connect you can:
- Create your app listing (name, description, screenshots, category)
- Upload builds submitted by Semblor
- Submit your app for Apple review
- Monitor app status and user reviews after launch
