How to create a Google Play Developer account
Step-by-step guide to creating your Google Play Developer account
A Google Play Developer account allows you to publish your app on the Google Play Store, making it accessible to Android users worldwide. Google requires a one-time registration fee of $25, after which you can publish multiple apps under the same account.
Note: Google states the fee may change at any time and may include taxes.
Getting started
You'll need a Gmail account (ending with @gmail.com) to sign up. If you don't have one yet, create one at mail.google.com.
Steps to create your account
1. Visit play.google.com/console/signup and sign in with your Gmail account.
2. Select Organization as your account type.
3. Make sure you have the following ready before proceeding:
- A D-U-N-S number for your organization (see tip below)
- A valid contact phone number and email address
- A payment method for the $25 registration fee
4. Enter your Google Play Developer Account name.
This is the name customers see on the Play Store next to your app. It can differ from your legal business name and can be changed later.
5. Link a payment profile to verify your organization. Click to create or select an existing payment profile.
6. Create a new payment profile and continue to the next step.
7. Enter your D-U-N-S number and click Next. If you don't have one yet, visit Google's guide to D-U-N-S numbers.
8. Fill out the organization details form and click Next.
9. Explain why you need to use Play Console — select that you want to publish apps for your business.
10. Fill out the Developer Account information form and click Next.
11. Fill out the app information form:
- For "Earning money on Google Play" → select No
- For "App categories" → select None of the above
12. Review your details and complete the $25 registration payment. Your account is usually active within a few hours.
After your account is active
Once your Google Play Developer account is active, you can request your Android build from the Semblor dashboard. We'll provide you with the AAB file to upload to Google Play Console, and guide you through completing your store listing (title, description, screenshots).
